AMERA®Drive
Built around AmeraKey®, AmeraDrive is a windows desktop program which uses Amera’s picture and pin technology to encrypt files in a Data-at-Rest application.
The AmeraDrive interface is a simple graphical user interface which enables a user to create a picture and pin binding and then using that binding to either encrypt or decrypt files. These files may be stored locally or in cloud storage such as OneDrive or Dropbox. Encryption and decryption are done using a 256bit AES symmetric key created by the binding and as such, the encryption is deemed to be Quantum Safe. Using this symmetric key has the advantages that the key is not mathematically derivable and the key itself is not stored. The process of key generation and distribution is described in various Amera Whitepapers.
The structure of AmeraDrive is built around the premise that only the owner of the data can control the distribution of the keys and sharing of the files. No third-party application such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or even Amera itself has access to the keys and thus cannot decrypt the files. This zero-knowledge by third parties allows for the maximum security possible.
In addition to a licensable library, AmeraKey® is also offered as a compiled command line product for many applications for which random numbers need to be generated besides encryption and decryption.
Applications such as generating MFA codes, authorization codes, digital representations of signatures, and passwords can utilize the high entropy harvests that AmeraKey provides. Industries such as gaming, lottery or anywhere a high entropy pseudorandom number is required, will benefit from AmeraKey®.
With the ability to generate hundreds of thousands of random numbers in seconds AmeraKey® is efficient. It is deterministic in that the same numbers will be generated using the same image and seed. There is not a direct mathematical relationship between the seed and the resulting random number. Backdoor Mitigation can be eliminated because the possession of the image, pin, and AmeraKey® are necessary but not sufficient to guarantee the ability to generate the same random number. There are other parameters under user or host control which can modify the output of the generator making it more difficult for backdoor mitigation to occur. High entropy with AmeraKey® can be obtained with relatively modest image sizes and will yield statistical variations approaching the ideal of perfect randomness.
